WELFARE OF BACKWARD CLASSES – MUTHARAIYAR COMMUNITY AND ITS SUB-SECTS CALLING THE MAIN COMMUNITY AND IT’S AS MUTHARAIYAR – ORDERS – ISSUED

Backward Classes and Most Backward Classes welfare department G.O. MS . No: 15 Dated: 22.02.1996

Order: People belonging to mutharaiyar and its sub – sects have been demanding that they should be called in one name i.e. MUTHARAIYAR: Accepting their demand, the Honorable chief Minister made an announcement on 07.02.1996 that mutharaiyar Community and it’s sub – sects hitherto known in various names, will hereafter be called as mutharaiyar and that all the privileges and concessions now enjoyed by them will be continued.

2. Accordingly the Government direct that Mutharaiyar Community and the following sub-sects of that community, hitherto known in various names shall hereafter be called in one name i.e. “MUTHARAIYAR”
